WORCESTER, MASS.-Josh Fitzgerald, along with his wife Julie, is the new co-owner and operator of the Cannery Music Hall in Southbridge. A lifelong fan of live music, Josh told Talk of the Commonwealth that he sees this as a chance to fill a local entertainment void and breathe new life into a historic community venue.

The idea to reopen the Cannery came about when Julie was searching for a new location for her dance studio and was introduced to the opportunity by the building’s owners. The community’s response has been immediate and enthusiastic. “Let’s do this. Let’s bring it back to the community and from the feedback we’re getting, everybody’s very excited about having this back in their backyard,” said Josh.

The Cannery Music Hall will function as a multi-purpose entertainment venue with a capacity of 440. Plans include tribute bands, jazz nights, comedy shows, dinner theater, and potentially even off-Broadway plays.

Opening night is set for Friday, October 3rd, featuring Billy May’s “One Live Kiss” – a tribute to Paul Stanley of KISS.
