The Worcester Red Sox are a professional minor league baseball team based in Worcester, Massachusetts. Beginning play in 2021, the team is the Triple-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, succeeding the Pawtucket Red Sox.

The WooSox Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Worcester Red Sox, seeks to make dreams come true for the families in the City of Worcester, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and the surrounding region in New England. The particular areas of focus are education, social justice, conquering cancer, and recreation.

Tyler Murray, well known to Worcester Red Sox fans for his calls of the game, recently had the chance to sit in the broadcast booth for the Boston Red Sox. He spoke on The Worcester Red Sox Show about that experience as well as his time with the Worcester Red Sox and preparing for games. WooSox 2024 Opening Day Guide: Festivities & Special Guests

Worcester Red Sox President Dr. Charles Steinberg gives us everything we need to know for Opening Day 2024. (OpeningDay2024 is also your WooSox Rewards Word of the Week.)Opening Day is Tuesday, first pitch 3:05, but you want to be in your seat by 2:15 for all the festivities. Trot Nixon is throwing out the first pitch. Some young basketball players will be in the park and who will call out “Play Ball?” The last three seasons it has been American Legend, Bob Cousy, Dr. Charles hints this year there may be a passing of the baton to a Bruins Legend.
Holy Cross Women’s Basketball Head Coach. Maureen Magarity stops by. She tells us what it was like to take on the #1 team and player in the nation in the first round of the NCAA tournament. A game that had over three million viewers.

Joe Bradlee Joins Harvard: New Era in Sports Marketing

Joe Bradlee, SVP, Community and Player Relations for the Worcester Red Sox has accepted a job at Harvard University where he will be Assistant Athletic Director where he will focus on marketing, fan engagement and community relations. Bradlee was preparing to enter his 12th season with the Red Sox organization. He was among those who made the move to Pawtucket with Larry Luchino and Dr. Charles Steinberg. Bradlee thanked all of WooSox Nation for their support over the last few years. Bradlee’s presence will be felt throughout the season as he was instrumental in bringing in Trot Nixon for Opening Day on April 2nd and big names like Dennis Eckersley throughout the season. Everyone at Radio Worcester wishes Joe the best and look forward to seeing him around the ball park in his new role as a fan and proud dad. Dr. Charles is on a musical roll and presents us with a sneak preview of a new song on The Music of Baseball. This song was inspired by a new mascot coming this summer, Clara Barton, founder of the American Red Cross. It is sung by former Red Sox pitcher Bronson Arroyo. Dr. Charles brings you behind the scenes into the creation of this song and the meaningful lyrics.

Brooke Cooper: Trailblazing GM of WooSox Introduced

Brooke Cooper, newly named Executive VP/GM of the Worcester Red Sox, is live in the studio with WooSox President, Dr. Charles Steinberg. Dr. Charles and Brooke talk about her ten years with the PawSox/WooSox and what led to the GM position. Cooper is the first woman GM in PawSox/WooSox history and is one of three Triple A women GM’s in the Diamond Baseball Holdings organization. Diamond Baseball is the majority owner of the Worcester Red Sox and own a total of 29 minor league teams. Cooper said she is in contact with other GM’s within the organization. Lots of collaboration and sharing of ideas. This episode of the Worcester Red Sox podcast also sees the debut of the new WooSox 2024 theme song. Dr. Charles gives us a behind the scenes look of how he wrote the song and what it symbolizes. As if that’s not all, your word of the week is, Trot Nixon (trotnixon), in honor of the 2004 Boston Red Sox, World Series Champion, throwing out the first pitch on opening day.

Sherwood’s Diner Opening Day: Ice Cream, Lobster Rolls & More!

Opening Day is coming! A few differences you might notice. Soft serve ice cream is coming to Sherwood’s Diner on Summit St. The lobster rolls will be available on the concourse. Nacho chips will have a big presence and you will be able to get coffee on the concourse. Promotions are all about getting you up close and personnel with the players. Get ready for Wednesday autographs with the WooSox players and Thursdays get to meet former Red Sox players. And, of course, Friday night fireworks. Who will be at the park for Opening Day festivities? Dr. Charles drops some hints.

WooSox Announce Plans for Hall of Fame: An Inside Look

The Worcester Red Sox will have a Hall of Fame. Now what will that look like? Dr. Charles Steinberg, President of the Worcester Red Sox and committee co-chair, talks with Hank and “Big” Ben on the possible structure of the HOF. Hank and Ben have both been selected to serve on the committee. It isn’t just who will be in the first class but questions that need to be answered, include, how big will the first class be? Will you always have the same number of inductees? How do you judge a player? A WooSox player who goes on to a great major league career but may have spent a relatively short team in Worcester, do they get in? How do you honor great moments? And, on it goes. WooSox Hall of Fame: First Inductee Ideas & Fitzy’s Return

Dr. Charles Steinberg, President of the Worcester Red Sox, is collecting ideas for the coming season. One idea that is being talked about is a WooSox Hall of Fame. Who would you have as the first member? Dr. Charles also announced that fan favorite Ryan “Fitzy” Fitzgerald, now a member of the Kansas City Royals, will be returning to Polar Park for a meet and greet with fans on Saturday January 27th. On February 10th it will be the Valentine’s Dinner.
