Chamber Supports Clean City Push and Culinary Growth Through Food Hub and Green Corps Initiatives

WORCESTER, MASS.-Tim Murray speaks with the Talk of the Commonwealth about the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce’s involvement in the Worcester Food Hub, a partnership that provides commercial kitchen space and resources for food businesses. It also highlights the Chamber’s role in the Worcester Green Corps, a collaborative effort to clean up and beautify the city. The Chamber has helped launch The Worcester Food Hub, located at Union Station, provides commercial kitchen space and resources for food businesses, including caterers, producers, and those looking to start a food business.


With the announcement from Worcester City Manager Eric Batista about tackling the city’s trash problem in August with an all-hands-on deck approach, Murray talks about the efforts of the Chamber, through the Worcester Green Corps, to help keep the city clean. “The Worcester Green Corps is a partnership between the United Way, the city and the Chamber. It’s funding that comes that we raise here at the chamber from some of our businesses, contribution from the United Way and the city’s contribution, it’s not financial.” He supports the City Manager putting a renewed emphasis on a cleaner city. “Literally thousands and thousands of pounds of trash picked up regularly, this beautification efforts that they’ve undertaken. But we need to do better as a city collectively.”

New Worcester Homeless Resource Center Aims to Provide Wraparound Services and Housing Support

Leah Bradley, CEO of the Central Mass Housing Alliance, joined Radio Worcester to discuss the groundbreaking for a new homeless resource center planned for 134 Gold Street in Worcester. The facility will provide centralized day services including showers, laundry, medical care, case management, and housing assistance designed to help individuals experiencing homelessness stabilize their lives and reconnect with support systems.

Clark University Students Develop Video Games to Help Reduce Social Isolation

Paul Cotnoir, Dean of the Becker School for Design and Technology at Clark University, joined Radio Worcester to discuss an innovative program where students developed video games designed to help reduce social isolation for people living with schizophrenia and psychosis. The initiative combines game design, collaboration, and therapeutic concepts to create safe digital spaces focused on rebuilding communication and social confidence.

Amy Peterson Discusses Returning to Lead the DCU Center

Amy Peterson, the new General Manager of the DCU Center, joined Hank Stolz at Sherwood’s Diner to discuss returning to the venue where she previously served as Director of Marketing. Peterson spoke about the demanding nature of the entertainment business, the economic importance of the convention center, Worcester’s continued investment in the facility, and her desire to maintain strong local community connections.
