“The Comeback: The 2004 Boston Red Sox” is a new Netflix docuseries that is getting rave reviews. Worcester Red Sox President Dr. Charles Steinberg sat for hours with the producers of the series, giving them inside stories on the 2004 team. He goes “Behind the Seams” on Radio Worcester to tell us a story of how one of the most memorable Red Sox games of all time almost never happened. History would have been much different if not for Jason Varitek and other players finding the spark that would carry them to immortality. If you think you’re just going to hear a retelling of the Varitek – A-Rod dust up, think again. Dr. Charles brings you inside the manager’s office for the story behind the story. It begins with a horrible June series in New York that left fans fearing 2004 was not going to be the season they were hoping for. Fast forward to the Yankees at Fenway in late July. It is Saturday July 24th and history is about to be made. Hear why arguably the most important regular season game in Sox history almost didn’t happen.
