Kathy Gagne has devoted 30 years of her life to Mechanics Hall. The last 7 as Executive Director. She has a deep appreciation for the history and cultural significance of Mechanics Hall, and has been instrumental in preserving and promoting the venue. Gagne started at Mechanics Hall 30 years ago after a conversation with a friend on a soccer field, initially as the publicist. She immersed herself in learning the history and significance of Mechanics Hall, which is considered one of the finest pre-Civil War performance halls in the country. As executive director for the past 7 years, Gagne has focused on increasing musical programming, preserving the historic building, and engaging the community. It’s been a dream job for Gagne, “I’ve never, ever in all those years woken up in the morning and said, oh, I have to go to work today.” She says she’s ready for what comes next, “I want to get really smart about something I don’t know anything about yet.”
