Evelyn Darling is stepping down after five years at the helm of the BID, Downtown Worcester’s Business Improvement District. Darling recalls the humble beginnings, she was the only employee, to what it is today. In that five years much has been accomplished, particularly when it comes to the beautification of downtown. The BID is funded by downtown businesses, it also supports those businesses through enhancing public spaces. The Ambassador program sees downtown being kept clean in a very public way. Darling is leaving on a high note having overseen the BID’s role in the recent unveiling of the “You Belong Here” public art and lighting installation in collaboration with the Worcester Public Library and Library Foundation.
