Photos- Submitted
Bruce Mendelsohn is in Israel and gives us a first hand account of what he is seeing in reaction to the discovery to the bodies of six hostages. Mendelsohn said that even if Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is removed from power as protestors are calling for, the next Prime Minister may be not have different policies and may even be further to the right. He also questions if Hamas will truly accept the cease-fire proposal. Mendelsohn, who has two nephews presently serving in the Israeli military has visited the site of the October 7th massacre by Hamas of 1,200 civilians and seen what those murders have meant to Israel. Hamas took over 250 hostages’ that day, over a hundred of whom remain in Gaza. Three of the six hostages found dead — including Israeli-American Hersh Goldberg-Polin — were reportedly scheduled to be released in the first phase of a cease-fire proposal. Israel’s largest trade union, the Histadrut, has begun a general strike to pressure the government to accept a cease fire.
