WORCESTER, MA– Lisa Swanson, CEO of the Better Business Bureau of Central New England, sat down with Lee Gaudette, President of the Gaudette Insurance Agency, to discuss his company’s nearly century-long history and its close relationship with the BBB. Now a fourth-generation family business approaching its 100th anniversary, Gaudette Insurance has long prioritized trust, transparency, and customer care—values that Lee said align closely with the BBB’s mission.

“To have a sort of independent verification that you’re doing business the right way is really reassuring to the public,” Gaudette said, reflecting on the importance of BBB accreditation. He recounted a personal experience that deepened his appreciation for the organization’s role in fostering fair and productive relationships between businesses and customers. “That experience in resolving that complaint gave me the value proposition I needed. I wasn’t seeing it from every perspective until we were able to amicably resolve that customer complaint and actually keep that customer.”

Their discussion broadened to include the importance of business integrity, the growing sophistication of scams targeting seniors, and the dual role of artificial intelligence—both as a transformative business tool and a potential threat. Gaudette emphasized that despite rapid technological change, personalized customer service remains at the heart of lasting business success. His advice to fellow business owners was simple but powerful: be persistent, work hard, and stay true to your values while delivering genuine value to your customers.
