Worcester, MA-Congressman Jim McGovern (D-Worcester) tells the Talk of the Commonwealth that ICE needs to be abolished. He says funding should be stopped. McGovern characterized the recent events in Minneapolis, where ICE agents shot and killed American citizens, as a “horrific” human rights atrocity. He described ICE as operating like “Donald Trump’s secret police,” suggesting it was being used to intimidate and create chaos in states with Democratic leadership. “This is not supposed to be happening in the United States of America. We ought to be able to crack down on criminals. We ought to be able to control our borders without seeing these kind of Gestapo like tactics in the streets of our American cities.” He expressed alarm over the state of American democracy, citing the FBI’s investigation into the 2020 election results in Fulton County. “This is insane what’s happening. And the alarm bells ought to be going off. Trump is a threat to our democracy.”
