Worcester, MA-If you’re looking for your next favorite coffee stop, Lisa Malo says August Coffee deserves a visit.

The café is owned by longtime friends Allison and Maddi, who each built successful careers outside the coffee industry—one as an attorney and the other in the nonprofit sector—before deciding to turn a shared dream into reality.

Lisa says her current favorite is the Iced Salted Brown Butter Latte, while she notes the café’s caramelized banana drinks have quickly become customer favorites.

Whether you’re grabbing a morning coffee or meeting a friend downtown, August Coffee has quickly become one of Worcester’s newest local success stories.

“Burnin’ Down the House” Brings an Important Story to the Big Screen

Lisa is also encouraging residents to attend the premiere of “Burnin’ Down the House,” a documentary by Worcester filmmaker Tom Dwyer.

The film examines the deteriorating condition of aging fire stations across Massachusetts—including Worcester—and explores what those facilities mean for the firefighters who serve their communities every day.

Friday Night Roller Skating at the Worcester Common Oval offers families and friends another reason to spend an evening in the city’s downtown district.

For Lisa, the event is especially nostalgic.

“As someone who grew up celebrating birthdays—and even taking skating lessons—at Skylite, I’m especially excited to see roller skating back in Worcester.”

The return of roller skating continues the BID’s efforts to create free, family-friendly events that encourage residents and visitors to enjoy downtown Worcester.

From independently owned cafés to local filmmakers and outdoor recreation, downtown Worcester continues to expand its mix of experiences for residents and visitors alike.
