Massachusetts Governor Denies $140,800 Seawall Grant

Photo -Sam Doran  State House News Service Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey coming down hard on the town of Milton. Telling them that since they are not complying with the MBTA Communities Law they will be denied a $140,800 grant for a seawall. Along with Milton, Holden has also not complied with the law. Selectmen Anthony Renzoni tells Talk of the Commonwealth don’t hold your breath waiting for Holden to comply any time soon. Renzoni says this a town decision on how to handle zoning and the building of multi-family homes .Holden is an MBTA community because it is adjacent to Worcester, which has Union Station. 177 communities fall under the act which was enacted to help with the severe shortage of housing in MA. Renzoni says the problems of Holden is what he is concerned with, not the problems of Boston. Under the law all MBTA Communities must change zoning regulations around their local transit stations to allow multifamily housing by-right.
