MSBA Approves New Building for Burncoat High School

The Massachusetts School Building Authority has voted to approve a new building for Burncoat High School. This is just a first step but it almost certainly means that Worcester will have a new Burncoat High School in the next 5-7 years. WPS Superintendent Rachel Monarrez came by the Talk of the Commonwealth morning show to tell us what the news means for the city and school department. Monarrez said the design, size and scope of the project must be determined along with a feasibility study. Worcester has indicated that they have the money for their end and are ready for the project to proceed. Monarrez was asked what she would like to see in the school and said she is excited to continue to grow the performing arts space that already exists at the school and to expand into the vocational side, costumes, lighting, etc. Along with a state of the art auditorium for not only the students but the community as well.
