Worcester, MA-“Still Becoming…”; The Podcast of Girls Inc. with Board Chair Pam Daly. In this episode we look at Pam Daly’s personal journey as a Girls Club alumna, her role as board chair, the evolution of Girls Inc. over decades, and the organization’s future direction.

Pam attended the Girls Club in Worcester in the 1960s, in the same building that still houses Girls Inc. today, “I didn’t realize as I went to college, as I tried to advance my career in a male dominated industry, I didn’t realize all of those times that what I had learned, obviously at home from my family, but also at the Girls Club at the time was really pivotal in me going where I was going to go.” She returned to volunteer in 2017 and eventually became board chair.

When she was at the Girls Club, there was emphasis on teaching baking, sewing, cooking, and swimming.
The shift toward STEM, arts, and career readiness reflects the changes America has gone through in how women’s roles are perceived, “I definitely think Girls Inc. drove some of that change… organizations like Girls Inc had a heavy hand in making all that happen because they actually taught you in an environment how to do all of those things.” In past podcasts listeners met some of the young women involved in Eureka. The Eureka STEM program is a flagship initiative, with Consigli Construction  (Pam’s employer) sponsoring a cohort for five years.

A focus for the future is, “Getting the alumni involved again, I think shows the girls that are kind of coming through the ranks now that this is a lifelong thing.”
