Worcester, MA- Predictive Healthcare is delivering AI-powered postoperative monitoring through its MyHealthPal™ platform. The FDA-listed solution helps clinicians remotely track recovery, identify patients at elevated risk of complications, and intervene earlier.
Founder Talal Ali Ahmad tells us, “Every year, millions of patients are discharged from the hospital after surgery and sent home to take care of the wound and recovery with little or no support. And 60% of the time, the complication develops at home after surgery and the patient has no clue what’s going on.”
Ahmad explains how it works, “what we develop is a mobile app. You can put it on your phone. After discharge, you go home based on a schedule set by the doctors. You take a picture of your wound every day or every other day, depends on the surgery. You enter a couple of vital signs. We capture that data. Our AI algorithm will analyze it and predict elevated risk or standard risk and alert the doctor say when there’s elevated risk.” MyHealthPal also provides patients with a curated library of procedure-specific education and recovery guidance before and after surgery, improving engagement and adherence throughout the care journey. The idea came from a personal experience, “The best solution comes from something you experienced. …So, my son had a surgery a few years back and we brought him home and we end up in the emergency room not once, but twice.” He continued, “every time we notice something, we call the clinic and they say, ‘Well, the way you describe it, you need to come in.’ And we end up going there, sitting there for four hours” “I asked the doctor, ‘I could have sent you a picture?’ And he said, ‘If you send me a good picture, I could have told you not to come.’ And that’s when the idea was born.”
The platform is being deployed across health systems and surgical programs to improve outcomes while reducing the cost of care.
