Rep. Jim McGovern Reflects on Election Results, Calls for Accountability on Trump’s Authoritarianism, and Urges Democrats to Focus on Workers’ Issues

Congressman Jim McGovern won reelection on Tuesday. He calls into the Talk of the Commonwealth to look at what went wrong for the Democrats. He says right now it is unclear which way the House will go. Either way the House goes he says he looks forward to getting back into the fray. McGovern says he is clearly disappointed and a little heartbroken with how the election turned out but Trump won and people knew what they were voting for. He says Congress, the press and the people need to call Trump out if he goes too far in his authoritarian tendencies. He admits it will be hard if Republicans control both the House and Senate. McGovern says the reasons Kamala Harris lost are complicated and he hates to Monday morning quarterback. He does say he wishes she had spent more time talking about the struggles of the working man and specifically what she was going to do to help workers.
