Rep. McGovern Warns of Potential Recess Appointment for Controversial AG Nominee Matt Gaetz Under Trump

MA Congressman James McGovern reacts to President-Elect Donald Trump’s nomination of Matt Gaetz for Attorney General. McGovern says Trump may try to have the controversial nomination go through as a recess appointment. What could happen is the House and Senate would recess, allowing Trump to say that the governing bodies are not in session and he needs those appointments now. In this way he would be able to skip having a confirmation hearing. McGovern says there is no doubt with complete Republican control that some of the guardrails, the checks and balances, when it comes to things such as controversial nominees may not be there the way they were in the past.
