WORCESTER, MA- On this edition of the Worcester Red Sox Show, Dr. Charles Steinberg takes listeners behind the scenes of what he described as a highly successful Opening Day 2026 at Polar Park.

Steinberg detailed a program that brought together a wide range of notable figures, including baseball legend Roger Clemens, basketball icon Bob Cousy, a Swiss Olympian, and Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey. The lineup reflected the WooSox’s continued effort to blend sports, community, and broader cultural appeal into a single experience.

“Opening Day is about more than baseball,” Steinberg said. “It’s about creating something meaningful for the entire community.”

Looking ahead, Steinberg also announced that the “Maye Day” charity softball game — organized by New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye and his wife Ann Michael Maye — will take place at Polar Park on May 31. The event will support the MayeDay Family Foundation and is expected to draw strong community interest.

The addition of the event further positions Polar Park as a year-round destination for both sports and charitable initiatives in Worcester.

Steinberg also gave listeners a preview of a “rough cut” of the WooSox 2026 theme song, offering a glimpse into the creative direction the team is taking this season. While details remain limited, the early preview signals another effort to build energy and identity around the team’s fan experience.

With a successful Opening Day setting the tone, a high-profile charity event on the calendar, and new creative elements on the way, the WooSox appear poised for an engaging and community-driven 2026 season.
