Worcester-Made Short Film “Solus” Wins Big at Top Shorts Festival, Spotlighting City’s Rising Indie Film Scene

WORCESTER, Mass. —A short film, shot entirely in Worcester for the Dead of Winter Film Festival, recently won and won big at “The Top Shorts Film Festival.” Solus Writer/Director/Actor Tommy Jay Dwyer, John Keough, and HollyWoot Film Group stopped by the Talk of the Commonwealth. Tommy made sure to point out that the film’s success is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire cast and crew, not just the lead roles. John said the film and its reception is further proof of the vibrant film community in Worcester. Both Dwyer and Keough are committed to continuing to make films in Worcester and promoting the city’s growing independent film scene. Future plans include turning “Solus” into a feature-length horror anthology, in three parts and are also working on a documentary about the state of fire departments in Massachusetts.
