Worcester Mayor Responds to DOJ Report on Worcester Police Department

Mayor Joe Petty tells us how Accessory Dwelling Units will work in Worcester.

Worcester Mayor Joe Petty reacts to the report from the DOJ on the Worcester Police Department. The Mayor says he takes the report very seriously and is still processing it. He says it feels rushed and that he feels that it unfairly paints every WPD officer as being part of a pattern of abuse. The Mayor says wants to see the investigative reports, with dates and times on these instances. He says who are the police officers who were involved in these instances and how many. That no one would want an officer like that on the force. Petty feels that Chief Paul Saucier is the man to make sure everything is done properly and that he and the administration will be looking through all nineteen recommendations by the DOJ. Petty said he is open to having the discussion about a Civilian Review Board for the department. He said he believes an item on the report will be on the City Council agenda on Tuesday night and that will lead to discussion by the public.
