Alex Guardiola Weighs in on Homeless Encampment Debate

Alex Guardiola, the vice president of government affairs and public policy for the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce, has recently discussed his opinion piece on Radio Worcester. In his piece, he examined their view on a moratorium on homeless encampment sweeps that had recently been proposed by City Councilors Haxhiaj and Rivera. While supporting the need to continue helping those in need, Guardiola expressed concern over encroachment onto private property, public safety and sanitation – factors that he felt were being neglected within the current conversation. His opinion met with strong opposition from both councilors, further highlighting the divide between business and government forces on this issue.
