WORCESTER, MASS.-Dr. Jessica Pepple stops by the Talk of the Commonwealth to discuss the issues that are driving her campaign for Worcester City Councilor At-Large. Dr. J, as she is known to friends, works as the Chief Diversity and Culture Officer at RFK Community Alliance. She has a strong educational background and came to Worcester from Orlando, Florida.
Dr. J is running to bring a new perspective and voice to the city council, particularly in areas such as education, police-community engagement, health equity, job creation, and support for underrepresented populations. She believes that education is a top priority for the city, as it is a key driver for the city’s future, and she wants to ensure that Worcester Public Schools receive the necessary funding and resources to provide quality education for all students.
Pepple also speaks with Hank about the affordable housing crisis and homelessness in the city.
Dr. J emphasizes the importance of transparency and building trust between the community and the police department, and she aims to serve as a bridge to facilitate these connections and develop an action plan to address the issues highlighted in the Department of Justice report. “I’m tired of the finger-pointing. I just want us to be able to sit down, come up with an action plan, but more importantly for us to identify the objectives and the outcomes to show that whatever the results were from the DOJ, whatever the causes of concern are with public safety, that we have a plan in place and that we are in motion, and that we have the people of Worcester and we have the police officers all at the same table moving forward.”
