Maydee Morales Seeks Solutions, Not Sweeps, in Worcester Homeless Encampment Issue
Photo-Telegram & Gazette
City Council candidate Maydee Morales is taking a stand against the recent sweeps of homeless encampments in the city, and standing for solutions instead. After an op-ed piece from the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce came out against a moratorium, Morales is still looking to find the best path forward for everyone. With her petition before the City Council on a moratorium on sweeps, she wants to make sure that we are taking care of everyone in our community. She proposes forming an expert’s group to look at the problem and come up with solutions. “We need some solutions,” she said. “What is the plan? What are we doing? Continuing to remove people from the spaces they are in without a plan doesn’t work, period. We need to finally create pathways out of homelessness for our most vulnerable citizens.”
