WORCESTER, MA– On this episode of the Voice of Business Presented by the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce, Steven Biondolillo Founder of the National Baseball Poetry Festival, let people know that adults and kids should get their submissions in to be part of the festival.

Biondolillo said the National Baseball Poetry Festival, now in its fourth year, has experienced significant growth, attracting submissions from 37 states and eight countries. “You might have a prose poem, a little paragraph about baseball that you’re proud of. Just submit it, be part of it. Join us in the contest.”
The festival is the first of its kind to meaningfully unite sports and the fine arts, a concept the founder compared to the ancient Olympics.

“I always like to say we wouldn’t know the name of a single ancient Olympian if it weren’t for the ancient poets. So here we are again, thousands of years later, actually uniting these two great fields.”

The event consists of two main parts: a poetry contest, which is currently accepting free submissions, and a four-day gathering in Worcester in May. The deadline for adult submissions is March 27th, and the deadline for youth submissions is April 17th, coinciding with National Poetry Month. The four-day festival will include workshops, panels, poetry readings, a ballpark tour, a WooSox game, and a new musical feature on baseball music.
