WORCESTER, MA– On this segment of The Worcester Red Sox Show, team President Dr. Charles Steinberg, Bill Wanless V.P. Communications spoke with the Boston Herald’s Gabrielle Starr who is at spring training with the Red Sox.

Starr described the atmosphere at spring training as interesting due to significant roster turnover. She feels the team has the opportunity to surprise people. She provided a detailed account of Alex Bregman’s departure, explaining it was driven by his desire for a no-trade clause for family stability and a lack of trust in the organization following their handling of Rafael Devers.

Starr also offered insights into the personalities and potential of several players, including Triston Casas, Roman Anthony, Kristian Campbell, and Peyton Tolle. Starr described spring training as a unique time for media access, allowing reporters to build relationships and get to know players’ personalities, which she felt was especially important with this year’s new roster. “I like to get to know these guys as people and find out what interests them and what drives them and what they care about, because that’s the kind of stuff that’s going to motivate them on the field too. It’s all connected.”

She concluded with an anecdote about Kristian Campbell that highlighted her journalistic approach of connecting with players on a personal level.
