Rob Antonelli Jr and Worcester’s Urban Forest Plan

Rob Antonelli Jr., Assistant Commissioner DPW – Parks, Recreation & Cemetery Division, discussed the City’s Urban Forest Master Plan. The Urban Forestry Tree Commission just recently met to discuss the City’s second draft plan. Rob tells us they began a year and a half ago with public hearings and came out with the original draft and then gathered more feedback for the second draft. He said it will be a living document, and that they will adjust based on science, environmental impact and other factors as they look to increase canopy cover and the number of trees. He said it is important to have the kind of trees in the right locations.
