Tim Murray Opposes Lottery System for Voc-Tech Schools

Worcester Regional Chamber President and CEO Tim Murray feels that the Governor is on the wrong path when it comes to providing the best for Vocational and Technical Education. Schools. “We should not be watering down standards. We shouldn’t lower our expectations of our young people. We have universal access and high expectations. Those are not mutually exclusive.” There is a debate around whether to maintain admissions standards for vocational schools or move to a lottery system to ensure broader access. The Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce has advocated for the expansion of Chapter 74 vocational programs, which allow students to spend part of their time in the classroom and part in a workplace setting.
