WORCESTER, MA-Tim Murray, President and CEO of the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce, outlined the Chamber’s top priorities for the year ahead, emphasizing a continued focus on jobs, investment, and business growth as the foundation of Worcester’s long-term economic health.

Murray explained that these goals are being supported by strategic work in housing, transportation, and workforce development, areas he described as deeply interconnected. “Businesses need employees,” Murray said. “They need a range of price points in order to bring people to the city and to the region. So that will be a major focus.”

To address housing challenges, the Chamber plans to host a regional housing conference aimed at bringing business leaders, policymakers, and community stakeholders together to examine solutions that expand housing options while supporting economic growth.

Murray also discussed transportation initiatives critical to the region’s competitiveness, including efforts to improve commuter rail service and expand flight options at Worcester Regional Airport. He noted that reliable transportation infrastructure plays a key role in attracting employers and retaining talent.

Addressing the broader public debate around housing affordability and gentrification, Murray encouraged a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach rather than political division. He stressed that progress depends on cooperation between business, government, and community leaders working toward shared goals.
