Tony Economou Announces Campaign for Worcester District 1 Councilor, Focuses on Local Issues

tony economou
Tony Economou is running for District 1 Councilor in Worcester. He previously held the seat for six years starting in 2011. Jenny Pacillo who holds the seat now announced that she will not be running for a second term. Economou stops by Talk of the Commonwealth on the Radio Worcester Network to talk about his reasons for running. He feels the City Council needs to get back to putting Worcester issues, such as streets, first. Economu says people are already reaching out to him and what they are talking about is, potholes, sidewalks, safety, and other issues that matter to their daily lives. Indeed an emphasis on working with the DPW is clear throughout the conversation. When asked about decorum and other issues that have dominated recent headlines, Economu says, that councilors have the right to walk picket lines, join rallies, etc., but he doesn’t feel any councilor should act as an activist while on the floor of the city council. Tony Economu is a real estate broker and lifelong resident of the city. You can contact him at tony4worcester@gmail.com.
