WORCESTER, MASS.- Kim Golinski, President of the Worcester Railers, joined Talk of the Commonwealth to share some heartwarming and exciting news about the team’s community efforts and upcoming season.

The Railers are partnering with VetDogs.com to help train a service dog over the next 12–15 months for a veteran in need. Staff and players will work to get the puppy acclimated to loud noises and different social environments. Inspired by a similar program run by the New York Islanders, the Railers will soon announce the dog’s name — chosen by fans — on Wednesday, September 17th.

The team has also launched a “Month of Giving,” where 21 staff members each selected a local charity to receive a $1,000 donation along with volunteer hours from the Railers organization.

Looking ahead to the season, opening weekend is set for October 18th and 19th, featuring a block party and a special appearance by children’s favorite Bluey.
