Hank’s Electoral Map Now Shows a Trump Victory in November
The debate was a catastrophe. A single bad debate performance is one thing, but that’s not what this was. This was the confirmation to many of what they feared in their hearts. That Biden was just too old to be up to the task of taking on Trump or leading the nation. Now the excuses come rolling in. That it was the job of the moderators to take on Trump, that essentially they should have debated him and challenged him when he made untruthful statements. How would that have looked to the nation? It wouldn’t have helped Biden’s cause, that Jake Tapper and Dana Bash would have had to do what the sitting President of the United State could not, call out Donald Trump’s lies. The moderators would have had to fact check Biden on serval answers as well. The defense of Biden to many Americans sounds weak. “It was the cold medicine that made him have a bad debate.” I will agree that cold medicine can affect a person but it’s a lame excuse. “He was over prepared.” I get it. He was drilled to the point of exhaustion, and you were asking an 81 year old to memorize a lot of facts and canned responses and they were there, but just out of reach. Maybe, but people saw what they saw and everyone on the team understood the stakes. Come out with a spring in your step and on top of your game and put to rest the “sleepy Joe” nickname. Biden didn’t do it. Hey, I’m getting older, words don’t always come as easily as they once did, why did I walk into this room, etc., all part of ageing. I don’t think my kids are ready to put me in the home yet and there are differences between getting older and cognitive decline but I’m not running to be the leader of the free world.
What people saw on debate night has them concerned. Now, if you are a Biden supporter did you suddenly go, I’m going to vote for Trump based on that debate performance, no, of course not. Where the debate was devastating, is that in a close election that is going to be decided in a half dozen swing states on the margins, is that it means, crucial needed votes, may not come Biden’s way. It is a mistake, just as it was a mistake months ago not to address the elephant in the room, to just circle the wagons and whistle past the graveyard. The debate was a disaster for the Biden campaign and I feel it was such a disaster that the “Blue Wall ” will not hold. Biden, right now, is in danger of losing Minnesota, Michigan, or as I see it Wisconsin. I think the news is even worse for Biden. I think his performance puts Virginia and New Hampshire in play and takes any chance of North Carolina, Florida, or Nevada out of play for Biden.
I now have it 278 Electoral Votes for Trump. 260 for Biden. Not out of reach yet but headed that way. The Democrats are countering with a strategy of it is Trump the liar who should step down and the press should be ashamed of themselves. That will resonate with the base but the, Democracy is on the line so you can’t vote for Trump no matter what, strategy, shows no sign of resonating with voters who put inflation and the border as their top issues. I think after this debate the number of “double-haters”, those who don’t want either candidate, has probably risen. They won’t like what they saw from Trump either. If they stay home or turn to a third party candidate it will be a long night for the Democrats.
