WORCESTER, MA– “The whole idea is to try to get people out and experience just how wild Worcester is,” says Novick. “The Worcester Hikes are not going to require you to go out and get $300 Italian hiking boots. You can do this in your sneakers, man. We’ve got you.”

Hike Worcester Week, organized by the Greater Worcester Land Trust, is designed to encourage residents to explore the city’s hidden natural beauty while also raising funds for trail maintenance. Twice a week, volunteers clear paths, remove fallen trees, and build signage—efforts that keep Worcester’s trails safe and accessible.

This week, incentives are being offered to get people moving: complete five hikes to earn a calendar, ten hikes for the “coveted patch,” and a hiking medallion for anyone who completes more than ten. Guided hikes are available every day, making it easy for anyone to join.

“Worcester folks should know that they are living in an incredibly rich area that has great wildlife, great opportunities to see it,” Novick says.
