Worcester, MA- Lisa Swanson, CEO of the Better Business Bureau of Central New England, tells us about scams happening in our own backyard.
Recent Consumer Reports Across Massachusetts
“Hank, what’s fascinating is how different these reports are, and how easily these situations could happen to any of us.
In just the past week, consumers in Mansfield, Greenfield, Gardner, Medford, and Holyoke submitted reports describing suspicious transactions and potential scams. These involved a vehicle warranty, a generator advertised through TikTok, online subscriptions, and an Amazon marketplace purchase.
The reported losses range from about $12 to $260. These aren’t necessarily all confirmed cases of fraud. They’re experiences consumers have reported to BBB, and they help illustrate the questions we should be asking before spending money or sharing personal information.
