Worcester, MA -Time once again for the Taste of Shrewsbury St. Tuesday night, June 18th, 33 restaurants and bars will be participating. Paul Barber from The Flying Rhino and Gina Cariglia, Gina’s Hair Salon stop by Talk of the Commonwealth to give us event details. The event began in 2001 when Paul and other merchants organized to keep the pool at Cristoforo Colombo open when the city had thoughts of closing it due to recession. In the years since they have continued what has become a signature event and the kickoff to the summer. The Shrewsbury Merchants Association uses the money raised to help pay for the beautification of the neighborhood through the nine flower gardens running down the center of Shrewsbury St. A portion also goes to charity. Wrist bands are available at the Flying Rhino for $30. Several venues will have not only food but also live music. The weather should be great and many people have Wednesday off for Juneteenth, so expect a big crowd.
