WORCESTER, MA– Sara Barlok, Director of the Events Team at Polar Park, joined Discover Central Mass podcast host Tim Power to talk about Boo in the Woo and what’s next for the Worcester Red Sox’ home stadium as it continues to evolve into a year-round community destination.

With Boo in the Woo wrapping up on Thursday, October 30th and Friday, Halloween, Barlok reflected on the event’s success and the excitement it generated for families across Central Massachusetts. The Halloween celebration is one of four pilot programs run by Diamond Baseball Holdings, owner of the WooSox, designed to foster collaboration and idea-sharing among partner ballparks nationwide.

Barlok explained that Boo in the Woo was created to fill the gap left by the closure of previous haunted attractions in the Worcester area, offering families a new seasonal tradition in the heart of the city. She emphasized that Polar Park’s broader vision is to serve as a hub for community engagement beyond baseball season.

Following the Halloween festivities, Polar Park will launch Winter in Wooville—a month-long holiday light festival throughout December. The event will feature illuminated displays, holiday-themed food and beverages, and a charity tree decorating competition for local non-profits.

“It’s our goal, like we said, to bring these things to Central Mass,” Barlok said. “We’re always looking to do different things and use the ballpark in ways that maybe no one’s ever thought about.”
