WORCESTER, MA-Julie McDonald joined the Voice of Business segment to share how one idea turned into a life-changing mission. Seeing a critical need in her community, Julie founded Juniper Outreach, a nonprofit dedicated to providing food directly to children in Worcester’s city schools.

“So, Juniper Outreach is a nonprofit we began five years ago,” Julie explained. “The intention was to put school food pantries in some of our local city schools where the need is the greatest. The goal is really to put food in the hands of the children that are at the schools. They have no control over where their food is coming from, and they sometimes go home to empty cupboards—if they even have a home. A lot of these children are sleeping in cars and shelters. They’re doubled up. And so this just gives them the chance to grab a bag of food for the nights and weekends.”

Juniper Outreach will hold a fundraiser at Polar Park on November 13th from 5:30 to 8:30 PM, and all are invited to attend and support their essential work fighting food insecurity among local students.
