WORCESTER, MA-Matt Wally, Guillermo Creamer, and Randy Feldman join Hank and “Big” Ben to talk about the upcoming municipal election and more.
The Roundtable members look at the preliminary election results and wonder if incumbent Donna Colorio finishing in seventh may push her to run for Mayor. Colorio has run strong mayoral campaigns in the past.

Differing opinions, but the preliminary election was generally seen as a victory for centrist candidates, with incumbents Joe Petty, Kate Toomey, and Moe Bergman performing strongly. Former councilor Gary Rosen came in fourth and is seen by the Roundtable as a lock to return to the city council.

Ben identified a clear tier system in the results, which the other Roundtable members went along with, suggesting the top five candidates were likely secure, leaving four candidates to battle for the final sixth seat on the council.
Matt Wally pointed out incumbent candidates have a strategic advantage because they can use their positions on the council to introduce orders and generate media attention in the weeks leading up to the final election. He used Councilor King bringing forward a proposal for a personal property tax exemption as an example. The Roundtable discussed the impact the proposal would have on small businesses.

The group debated a proposal, championed by Councillor Etel Haxhiaj, to mandate sprinkler systems, with some supporting it as a necessary safety measure and others viewing it as a redundant and financially burdensome regulation, especially for renovations.
